IN 2016 Cadwaladers and Barry Athletic Cricket Youth section began a unique sponsorship deal that heralded a great working partnership.

Cadwaladers have not only stepped in with financial backing, they provided the location for parents to start and end the sessions with discount cards provided along with training jackets which the children proudly wore all season.

The partnership was such a success that with the 2017 season looming, Cadwaladers have kindly agreed to sponsor the youth section to enable the coaches to provide expert coaching and tuition.

Cadwaladers have been able to send nine coaches on courses to upskill their learning. These coaches have come from a variety of backgrounds, mostly via parents of children who have attended the youth section over the past two years.

Cadwaladers have had such a commitment to the club that they have attended numerous social nights and Paul Morton, the operations manager, was on hand to present the player of the year award at the Presentation Night held at the club in September 2016.

Paul Morton commented: “Cadwaladers are proud to continue our involvement with Barry Athletic Cricket Youth Section.

“We strongly believe sport is a great way of bringing local communities together and keeping people active and healthy.

“We are looking forward to cheering the team on in 2017.”

With the youth section ever expanding and a new under-13s team entering the Cardiff and Vale Cricket Junior league the partnership with Cadwaladers has been pivotal in the ongoing success of the club.

With the new building works taking place at the ground this year, the 127th in the club’s history promises to be an exciting one with both the senior and junior sides looking for promotion.

Mark Ellis, the youth section coordinator commented: “This year promises to be the best yet with more than 45 young members (both boys and girls) in the youth section ranging from six to 13-years-old.

“In readiness for the new season we started indoor nets on Sunday, January 22, at Colcot Sports Hall.

“Our partnership with Cadwaladers shows that local businesses can be of massive support to the club and we really appreciate all that Cadwaladers is doing to help us achieve our goals of producing talented Barry cricketers for the future.”
